About The Film

Once the shy son of a Brooklyn dry goods salesman, “the Jewish Elvis” Neil Diamond is now a charismatic, stadium-filling live performer and prolific singer-songwriter who has sold over 125 million records worldwide and penned numerous top-ten hits. He is adored by his dedicated fans, drawn to his blend of soul and sensitivity. This complex and affectionate portrait chronicles the star’s quest to discover his voice through writing and recording his own music, as periods of personal crisis produced some of the most introspective output on his bumpy professional path. Candid interviews with Diamond, Neil Sedaka, Robbie Robertson, Mickey Dolenz, and other musicians complement the plentiful concert footage, television appearances, screen tests, and home demos, not to mention a 1941 home movie of his parents taking baby Neil home from the hospital.
