About The Film

After leaving his home country of Morocco amidst racial tensions spurred by the Yom Kippur War, Michael, the son of a beloved, once-famous Jewish musician returns to see his father who dies days later. Michael teams up with a wacky Muslim taxi driver and sets off on a mission to meet the other members of his father’s band. As Michael learns about his father, his life unexpectedly transforms, and his own identity is reshaped. This unusual buddy film tackles the complexities of Jewish-Muslim relationships in an engaging and creative story that smashes common stereotypes with humor and compassion. Featuring a strong script with great characterizations, THE MIDNIGHT ORCHESTRA plays a tune of common humanity.
