Cultural Arts & Film Festival Intern

The Stroum Jewish Community Center's Cultural Arts Department seeks a Cultural Arts & Film Festival Intern and team member to be a part of this highly anticipated community and cultural arts event. SJFF is a cornerstone of SJCC’s community building mission and a cinematic celebration of global Jewish and Israeli life, history, complexity and culture for everyone. You will play an integral role on SJCC’s Cultural Arts team preparing for the 22nd annual festival, running March 25 – April 2, 2016, and will gain experience working in a large non-profit and arts organization, event and database management, box office and customer service, marketing, audience outreach and development. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Festival Program Coordinator as needed, including but not limited to:

  • Liaising with film festival screening committee, filmmakers and distributors
  • Upkeep film database and library
  • Emailing, managing and tracking submissions and committee reviews
  • Researching and request potential films and sometimes reviewing them
  • Researching potential guest speakers/artists
  • Administrative support, including box office support and phone lines
  • Print trafficking and shipment of films
  • Assist with film/event promotions and outreach
  • Additional support for cultural arts, year-round film programming and cultural arts staff as needed


  • Work 8-10 hours per week in office
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in Word and Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop optional but a plus
  • Comfortable with PC or Macintosh computers
  • Familiarity running cash registers or box office software a plus


  • $100/month stipend
  • Credit can be arranged with your advisor/professor
