Combining reenactments, interviews and archival materials, this inspiring documentary narrated by three-time Academy Award nominee Joan Allen commemorates the life of the Hungarian poet and resistance fighter, Hannah Senesh, who became a national heroine in Israel. Enjoying a middle-class upbringing in 1930s Budapest, Senesh knew little of Judaism until rising anti-Semitism prompted her migration to Palestine. After the outbreak of World War II, she voluntarily enlisted in a desultory mission to liberate Hungarian Jews -- the only Holocaust rescue attempt of its kind.
