So Sarah invents the perfect boyfriend and delights her parents (played by Lainie Kazan and Seymour Cassel with stories about the man of her mother's dreams (played by Lainie Kazan). When her parents insist on meeting this nice Jewish surgeon, Sarah resorts to desperate measures. Enter Bob (Tony Daly), an actor, to play the role of her new beau. The antics that follow are what have made this comical, heartwarming tale such a huge success since its first stage production in 1989.
