Ruth Gruber didn't just report the news...she made it! The directorial debut of award-winning cinematographer Bob Richman (AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, SEPTEMBER ISSUE, MY ARCHITECT) tells the remarkable journey of this American writer, journalist, and photographer. Born in Brooklyn in 1911, now 100, Ruth Gruber is the youngest person in the world to receive a PhD, at age 20, and an early feminist. She covered stories everywhere from the frozen tundras of Alaska and the Arctic to the arid deserts of the Middle East - most famously, Britain's WWII blockade against Jews attempting to enter Palestine, which she actively defied in her work.
