You don't want to miss this! On Thurs. March 11th, Tom Douglas hosts much more than the AJC Seattle Jewish Film Festival's premiere party. Welcome to the new stand-alone pre-fest "happening" at Palace Ballroom, complete with food, wine, beer from Pike Place Brewery, music by Anna He of AWIM and an exclusive SJFF film series. Meet native boychick filmmaker Andy Schocken whose film The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardener was shot entirely in Western Washington and was nominated for an Academy Award for best short.

A unique voice in postwar Germany, DR. MICHAEL VERHOEVEN is one of Europe's most acclaimed filmmakers. While some denied and others chose to forget, Verhoeven risked popular opinion by daring to tell the truth in Germany about Germany. On the occasion of SJFF's 15th Anniversary, AJC applauds Dr. Verhoeven's courageous work by presenting him with the 1st SJFF Reel Difference Award, created by Roger Nachman Glassworks at the screening of his latest film HUMAN FAILURE.. Mr. Verhoeven will also present his 1991 Academy Award nominated film Nasty Girl and dialogue with students as part of SJFF's 2010 Shemanski Trust FILMTalks Program. Note: FILMTalks screening is FREE and open to the public, but only students will discuss the film with our special guest.
