About The Film

ROAD TO EDEN is a feature-length music documentary about Dan Nichols, one of the most influential Jewish musicians of his generation. The film follows his concert tour through the deep South, an experience that forever changes Dan’s life. In October 2011, Nichols and his band, Eighteen, loaded into an RV and spent the Jewish festival of Sukkot on tour. This is the story of what happened when one artist with a message of love and hope embraced the Sukkot challenge and set out on a journey that changed him and his fellow travelers in ways they could never have imagined. Nichols meets undocumented aliens in Alabama and homeless Jews in Florida, recounts Martin Luther King Jr.’s last days with his friend Rev. Billy Kyles, and danced with the Torah in Memphis. ROAD TO EDEN is a rousing road movie that uncovers profound teachings about our connection to the earth and the fragility of existence. It reveals the dream of a world perfected. It’s an experience that will make you laugh, cry, and rock out to the music.
