About The Film

BETHLEHEM is the shattering story of the complex relationship between Razi, an Israeli secret service officer, and his teenage Palestinian informant, Sanfur, recruited when he was only 15. Sanfur is the younger brother of a highly wanted Palestinian militant who Razi is determined to capture and kill. Sanfur, recruited by Razi at age 15, has always lived in his brother’s shadow and thrives on Razi’s attention. Now 17, Sanfur struggles to navigate between Razi’s demands and his loyalty to his brother, living a double life and lying to both. Co-written by Israeli director Yuval Adler and Arab journalist Ali Waked, BETHLEHEM transcends perspectives, revealing the impossible situations and moral dilemmas associated with the dark and fascinating world of human intelligence. Israel’s submission as Best Foreign Language Film for the 2014 Academy Awards,® BETHELEM gives an authentic portrait of the complex reality behind the news.
