About The Film

How do you get Jewish and Palestinian children to forget their differences for an afternoon? Teach them to dance. Or so believes Pierre Dulaine, four-time ballroom dancing world champion. In this inspiring documentary, Pierre takes his Dancing Classrooms program to his birthplace of Jaffa, Israel, to test his theory. In this city torn by two cultures, Pierre teaches Jewish and Palestinian children to dance and compete together. The children are forced to confront issues of identity, segregation, and racial prejudice as they dance with their enemy. This inspirational film is a testament to the power of the arts—and dance, in particular—to transcend boundaries, cultivate understanding, and wipe out hatred.
