Three generations of stubborn Persian-Jewish immigrants struggle to manage their ramshackle family turkey farm in this coming-of-age drama set in the Negev Desert of 1980s Israel. Yitzhak’s father built the farm with his own two hands and imposed harsh duties and obligations on his son Moti. Now that Moti is 13, Yitzhak hopes he’ll continue the proud family trade and tradition. But Moti, who prefers fixing up junkyard cars, isn’t eager to be his apprentice—a rebellion his father, a fearsome patriarch, takes as a personal affront. When Yitzhak’s older brother visits from America, he sets off a chain of events that undermines familial harmony.
