About The Film

A tender and funny drama about the sunny 1960s reunion of three Jewish survivors who haven’t seen each other since Auschwitz. For 15 years Hélène (Julie Depardieu) placed an ad in the newspaper hoping to find Lili, her closest friend at Auschwitz. The two finally reconnect during a warm summer in the French seaside town of Berck-sur-Mer. To Hélène’s surprise, Lili arrives with their friend Rose, who Hélène believed had died in the camp.

In telling his own mother’s story, filmmaker Jean-Jacques Zilbermann (MAN IS A WOMAN) lovingly recreates the powerful bond between these three women. Although the tragedies of the Holocaust are never far from their thoughts, these intimate friends help each other process the horrors they endured in order to finally move forward. This visually resplendent film strikes a perfect balance between humor and tragedy.
