No events for Rabin in His Own Words

About The Film

Twenty years after his assassination, Yitzhak Rabin tells his own dramatic life story. Director Erez Laufer’s candid and sensitive documentary is an anniversary “autobiography” of sorts. Told entirely in Rabin’s own voice through a combination of rare archival footage, news interviews, home movies, and private letters, Rabin’s personal and professional drama unfolds before viewers’ eyes in ways heretofore unheard and unseen. Laufer gives audiences a front-row seat to Rabin’s life, from his childhood as the son of a labor leader through his brilliant diplomatic career to his tenure as prime minister and the horrific moment that brought his life to an untimely and devastating end.

Rabin was a complex and contradictory character: honest, innocent, and timid, while also forceful, determined, and resilient. On the 20th anniversary of his death, we reflect on his legacy. Through this lens, we stand to learn as much about Israel’s present and future as its past. Winner of Best Documentary at the 2015 Haifa International Film Festival.
