About The Film

Anne Gueguen is facing the kind of class that is every teacher’s nightmare. But she has a plan to motivate her troubled, inner-city students—and perhaps to unite them despite all the perceived differences that seem so important to high schoolers. She encourages her apathetic class to enter France’s annual National Contest of Resistance and Deportation, where they have to create a project on the theme of “children and teenagers under the Nazi regime.” As they study the history of the Holocaust, the students—many of the Islamic faith—begin to connect not only to the atrocities of history, but also to each other. The students learn to curb their anti-Semitism and embrace curiosity, creativity, and empathy. Inspired by true events, this uplifting story and hit at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, offers new insights into the impact of global Holocaust education on future generations.
