About The FilmSamar and Linor live just 67 kilometers apart – but they’re separated by a vast cultural, national, and ideological chasm. The girls are both part of an education technology school program that seeks to bridge gaps in Israeli society. The program pairs sixth graders from a secular school in the impoverished city of Lod with online pen pals from a religious school in the Jewish settlement of Tlamim. A spark of friendship develops during Samar and Linor’s online correspondence and when the girls finally have the chance to meet, they – and their families – are faced with an exciting, stressful, and complex experience. Plays with: POCKETS #1 (short) Directors BiosNitzan Ofir wrote and co-directed this film, his first as a director, along with Barak Heymann of the prolific Heymann Brothers Films (BEFORE THE REVOLUTION, 2013, LIFE IN STILLS, 2011, LADY KUL EL-ARAB, 2009, and STALAGS, 2008, all screened at SJFF).
